ArriveUTSC is a learning and flourishing intervention designed to support students who self-identify as struggling.
Join the ArriveUTSC program and learn how to thrive both personally and academically by:

  • Better understanding the connections between academic success and personal well-being
  • Building motivation, optimism, and resilience
  • Improving learning strategy essentials like time management and effective studying
  • Developing a sense of belonging on campus

ArriveUTSC is a holistic group-based program. It is free to attend.

To be eligible for this program, you must be a UTSC student who

  • started in 2023 or before
  • is getting low grades or is on academic probation or is on academic suspension

If this is you, then we invite you to sign-up to attend this mini-course. This may be the right time to pause, re-evaluate and pick up some tools to help you move forward in a meaningful way!

Future program dates and times:

ArriveUTSC will be offered beginning the week May 27th, 2024 and continuing over an 9 week period, we will be offering ArriveUTSC through a virtual session via Zoom. The program consists of 8 weeks of programming over an 9 week period. Please note that there will be no class the week of June 18th (reading week).

During each of the 8 weeks, you will be asked to attend a 1.5 hour synchronous session, on Thursday from 11am - 12:30 pm (EST) AND a 1 hour asynchronous session.

The time commitment may be a bit more than 2.5 hours each week as there is some homework assigned that needs to be completed prior to the following session. In addition, the time to review the asynchronous session could vary from person to person and from week to week depending on the content and how comfortable you happen to be with that topic. Testimonials from previous ArriveUTSC participants:

During my time in the program, certain topics and quotes discussed that stay with me until now, are with regards to building better habits and that is, "follow the plan you made and not the mood." Along with the "Growth" versus a "Fixed mindset" which was something I started to address and work on once it was discussed because I was someone who took on a fixed mindset at the time, especially when I reached obstacles during my academic career.

I especially hold dear to me the habits and tips developed from ArriveUTSC. It was not just practical study skills that were discussed but also self-compassion and taking care of yourself not just physically but mentally, whilst undergoing your studies.

It was a great program introduced to UTSC and I know students can benefit from it if you allow yourself to. An excellent way of reminding me that this is my degree and I must take control of my pathway to achieve it!

I attended the ArriveUTSC program because I struggled with mental health problems, which affected my grades significantly. Joining the ArriveUTSC program was one of the best decisions I made. This program motivated me to make positive changes in my life, drove me to work harder, and put in more effort, leading to significant improvements. After attending the program, I always ask myself every day if I did at least three things to help me achieve my goal. It is these little things that help you reach your goal, and it is a great feeling when you realize that at the end of the day, you did something that can help the future YOU!!

It is a safe space where you can learn strategies to improve not only your academic study skills but also how to improve your mental health and ways of thinking towards learning in general. Also a safe and understanding place to interact with other students from a variety of backgrounds, where you can connect on your troubles and help raise each other up.

I really love this program and it made my life so much easier. I'm overwhelmed by the sense of community and support I felt from students in this program. I would definitely recommend this program to any of my friends who are struggling with their academics and life.
