Thank you for your interest in participating in our My Favourite Songs Study! In this study, we want to know more about your toddler’s (ages 1.5-3 years) favourite songs – what kinds of songs they are, where they get to hear the song, and whether toddlers have special reactions to hearing their favourite jam. In this two-part study, you will first answer a short survey about your child’s favourite songs. Second, we may follow up and ask you to video-record your child dancing to different tunes – some they know, and some that are new!
What will happen in the study?
This study has two parts:
Part 1 – Questionnaire: You will complete a form about your child’s favourite songs after providing caregiver consent for your child. You or your child can choose to stop at any time. The form will ask if you would be interested in participating in Part 2 of this study.
Part 2 – Dance Party: Your child will be asked to move to 6 songs we’ve selected. This will take around 7 minutes of their time. You can either record your child moving to these songs and then email us these videos OR we can schedule you and your child for an online video appointment. If you have indicated interest in the Part 1 form, we will contact you with more information.
What do I get for participating?
Your child will receive an electronic Junior Scientist certificate. You will also be entered in a draw to win a $30 CAD Amazon.ca gift card (odds are 1 in 20). Winners will be contacted by email.
How do I sign up?
No sign-up or appointment is required. You may complete Part 1 of the study whenever you are ready.
Once you complete Part 1, you can decide whether or not you’d like to sign up for Part 2.
